The Blue Ridge Rounders, from the Upstate of South Carolina, have been playing together since 2002. The current line-up of Bob and Amy Buckingham, Dan Wood and Joshua Johnson have been together for two years. This, they felt, was the right combination of talents to record the old time music they love and reflects the heritage of this region. Their new CD, 'The Rounder Way' reflects the history, values and lifestyle of that was so dominant in those days gone by. With an edge from bluegrass and a deep respect for the musical traditions of the mountains, the Rounders play a hard driving, fun loving music with the depth of an ancient knowledge. They have played the King Pup Radio Show, played live on WNCW, taken the blue ribbon at many festivals and competitions, opened for big name bluegrass musicians such as Ralph Stanley and Sam Bush, and have played many other shows and dances up and down the East Coast. The Rounders are not just another old time band. |

Fiddler Bob Buckingham
learned the old time way by sitting
at the knee of an elder fiddler, and by accompanying him on banjo and
guitar at square dances and concerts. Bob has fiddled for thirty years
and has a wide ranging repertory. He also loves and sings many great
old songs and ballads, and provides the mandolin line when necessary. |

Guitarist Amy Buckingham also plays bass, banjo, and fiddle,
and sings with a remarkable tonality and delivery. Her music is
heartfelt and soulful. She sings the old modal ballads and balances
them with more contemporary songs that speak to modern issues. |

Josh Johnson
was a classical guitarist who took up old time banjo. His approach to
the banjo is unparalleled in his unique understanding of its potential.
His vocals catch that lonesome edge of mountain angst. |

Dan Wood reaches back to his ancestral roots in Madison County, North Carolina and sings with the passion of the famous ballad singers from that area. Think the same tradition as the movie Song Catcher. Dan’s banjo playing has an eloquent simplicity and the directness of his vocals will catch you up in the story. |
